We have done a couple of events and a total of 1000km with the 180zx now... my daughter named it "stickers" after the little red car in the childrens animated movie "Cars."

We have scored a couple of sponsors, Calix GPS Speed Guard and Dialect Mobile communications outlet. Also take the opportunity to thank Lönebrinks Bilskadecenter for the painting, Vargia Engineering for machining and HIDJA for electonic trip meters and sensors.

The car has been running perfectly, it is possible to outbrake and outhandle just about everything on the track... although GT2 porsches and 600bhp audis and subarus are harder to roost... we did make pass a few ferraris, but had it been a faster track we might have trouble holding them off on the straights.

Next step in the project is to raise the boost from 0,6 to 1 bar, that should also raise the power from 200 to around 250bhp and hopefully/sadly sell the car to finance the next project....

Paint finished...

Finally decided how we wanted the white highlights on the car and here they are.
Engine will be built this week, should get the new cam from ENEM today and also the oil pump, then there is nothing stopping us from getting it built and fitted.
Mapping is booked in for June 22nd and the first proper drifting event will be Gatebil.com in sweden at the end of june, followed by another similar event in Norway a fortnight later.

Heres a few before pictures of the engine... burned out valve and a dodgy piston... so I guess we will need new pistons and rings, and I'll sort the head out with some stainless valves a nice porting job...

Up and running...

So the car is up and running, we re-registered it with the authorities on thursday last week (March 30th 2007), we had no problems with the process, the roll cage was totally padded so that even a nut case would be safe inside the car, the exhaust with side exit was ok as were the adjustable suspension, plastic rear windows and electronic rally-trip speedometer.
I don't have many pictures as we have been too busy this past week getting the car ready and then going out to play in it.
Still to be done is the painting of the white stripes (between the red/bue and at the bottom of the skirts) fitting of a rear wing (not allowed for the registration test), lightweight mirrors and lowering the seats so we can actually see out!
We are also going to get some 100mm long rear porsche wheel studs, as the 70mm 924 turbo rear studs are not long enough on the rear. We are currently only running a 20mm spacer at the rear and ideal would be 35mm to get the wheels right out in the wheel arches.. it is easy to change them now that the hubs and discs are already drilled to 14,5mm and the rear arms have had a notch ground in them to let the longer studs pass through from behind without needing to remove the hubs.
150bhp makes it a fun car for the easily impressed, but we will be looking for some more, so the head is coming off next week, I will port the head, get a decent camshaft, T25 turbo, intercooler, injectors, fuel pump and a remap. Also might look into baffling the fuel tank as we get fuel surge doing donuts on less than 1/4 tank of fuel!
First set of rear tyres are already shredded.... so as a drift car she is approved.....!

Painted... but not finished yet.

Not finished yet, but here's some more work in progress shots from last night.

The colour scheme is not complete yet, there is a white stripe to go between the red and blue, classic nissan/datsun colour scheme, and a white border around the bottom of the car, front splitter and bib need to go on, wheel spacers are being made. Going to use compomotive two piece 16x8 (ET20 I think) rims, porsche 924 rear wheel studs (m14 x 1,5 x 70 long) if we can drill out the hubs to accept them and 25mm spacers, not sure what offset the compomotives are, but I guess they are close to zero... this body kit with standard wheels would need 60mm spacers to fill the arches out..

Rear wing, lightweight door mirrors and lowering of the seats will be done after the car is re-registered.. for legal reasons...

Same applies to bigger brakes and changing the engine.... shhhhhhhh... we have to get it re-registered for road use with roll cage and as a two seater.... and then once they go through everything with a fine toothed comb, to make sure we haven't tuned it or changed seat mountings, mirrors lights etc... then we can change almost everything as subsequent yearly tests will just check light alignment, rust and emissions etc.
